put my scraps through the wash

2010 April 11th

I’ve been working on these scraps of canvas for over 5 years now–never quite sure what to do with them. I lay the scraps down on the floor near and or beneath where I paint in order to catch the spills and splatters. Most of the marks on these scraps are random. The creative process for these is almost completely wrapped up in the looking–leafing through the stacks of stained scraps picking out the ones that catch my eye (the ones i fall for). On April 8th of this year (2010) I put all these scraps through the washing machine and then hung them/ laid them out to dry.
